About us

We have been providing housing, residential and nursing care to former seafarers, their widows and dependants for more than 150 years. Our residential and nursing care home, Belvedere House, together with our sheltered flats, is situated within the idyllic grounds of the Weston Acres Estate, near Banstead, Surrey.

MESSAGE FROM THE CEO

Set in a beautiful 14-acre estate, The Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society provides a safe haven for older seafarers, members of the broader maritime industry and their dependants in our Belvedere House Care Home and Weston Acres Sheltered Accommodation.

Having recently completed the extensive modernisation of Belvedere House Nursing Home, our high-quality facilities now include enlarged fully furnished rooms with ensuite wet rooms, modern climate control and luxury care beds with the latest hybrid mattresses. The modernisation included additional communal spaces, a new activity room and a lounge that further increase the choices for relaxing and socialising with other residents, friends and families as we understand the positive effect this has on our residents’ mental wellbeing.

With the generous support of maritime charities, we care for seafarers and their dependants. The modernisation ensures that Belvedere House remains a home fit for seafarers and their dependants for the next 25 years. Our experienced team of more than 100 dedicated staff provide person centred care and dedicated dementia support to our residents.

We also welcome veterans and members of the local community who would benefit from our dementia, nursing, and respite care.
